Firstly you may wish to join my at my next ward surgery – no need to make an appointment just turn up between between 3.00 and 5.00 pm on Saturday the 6th of September at Helpston Village Hall.

Secondly you may be interested to note that National Highways (NH) have written to me advising of significant works affecting the ward- this is the key information:

NH are undertaking works to realign the A1 over the damaged culvert at Billing Brook south of Water Newton. Once completed, this will enable two-lane traffic flow through the area and help ensure the continued safety and reliability of the A1.

NH plan to complete this work over seven weeks between Monday 1 September and Monday 20 October 2025.

NH will work between 9pm and 5am on weeknights only between Monday 1 September and Friday 12 September, weather permitting.

Following this, there will be full weekend closures in place from Friday 12 September to Monday 20 October. NH will work between 9pm Friday evening to 5am Monday morning, weather permitting. There will be no weeknight closures between these dates. Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A1 southbound between Wansford and Alwalton, and divert traffic as detailed below:

Traffic travelling southbound on the A1 through Wansford will need to:

-Exit the A1 at Wansford Interchange onto the A47
-Exit the A47 at Thorpewood Interchange onto the A1260
-Continue on the A1260 to Hampton Roundabout
-Turn right onto the A1139
-Rejoin the A1/A1(M) at Fletton Parkway Interchange.
